FLASH ACADEMY ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF FERGUSON’S CONTRACT

Director of Coaching will remain with Academy through 2020

BUFFALO, NY (March 2, 2017) --- The Western New York Flash Academy is excited to announce the extension of Rob Ferguson’s contract to remain the Academy’s Director of Coaching. Ferguson, 37, came to the Flash in May of last year and has spearheaded the club’s inaugural year in the Elite Clubs National League.

“In just 9 short months, Rob has made a very positive impact on our players, coaches and club members,” Director of Soccer Operations Aaran Lines said. “It is an extremely exciting and energizing time right now within our club and for all of the young soccer players in western New York. Rob is the complete package and we are thrilled that we were able to secure him for the next three years. We are looking forward to continued growth and expansion of the academy with Rob.”

In addition to preparing all staff and teams for ECNL showcases and league play, Ferguson has made it a priority to engage youth clubs to unify the WNY soccer area. Ferguson has led the charge with West Seneca Soccer, Enchanted Mountain, Kenmore and Fort Erie partnerships with the WNY Flash Academy with even more prospective mutual partnerships in the near future.

“Our first 9 months in Buffalo have been very busy, very exciting and very enjoyable,” Ferguson said. “The players and families around the Academy have made Kelsey and I feel very welcome and I am excited to be heading in to 2017-18 with such great momentum and positivity around the organization. We must continue to bring together all the best soccer players and allow them to flourish – individually and collectively – on bigger stages. I have seen great progress in our players, especially in their attitude and mindset towards training and striving for success. This is a key component for any young soccer player who truly wants to maximize their potential, and a pillar of our Academy.”

Prior to the Flash Academy, Ferguson spent time as the head men’s and women’s coach at Huston-Tillotson College. In addition to his collegiate experience, Ferguson was the Executive Director of Business for Lonestar Soccer Club from 2008 until 2015; one of the largest and most successful youth soccer clubs in the country.
