FLASH DOMINATE THRUWAY TILT

Cutrona, Pezzino Lead Flash to Victory

BUFFALO, NY (June 17, 2017) --- The Western New York Flash (2-3-2) continued to build off of a solid weekend last weekend, where they took four points from the top two teams in United Women’s Soccer, and dominated tonight’s season finale in a 4-1 win over the Rochester Lancers (0-6-1).

The match got off to a very quick start, as Carissima Cutrona fed a ball to Maddie Pezzino, who put it home in the 2’ to give the Flash an early 1-0 lead. The Lancers responded quickly, as they scored a goal in the seventh minute to tie it right back up at one.

Following the two quick goals, the Flash dominated the rest of the evening, lead by the two forwards. Pezzino logged another goal in the 28’ on another feed from Cutrona to make it 2-1, and then the Florida State product was credited with two helpers on two second-half goals by Cutrona.

“I am so pleased for the team because the hard work in practice is showing dividends on the field,” Head Coach Gary Bruce said. “What I saw on the field tonight was confident players that knew what they wanted out of the game and were able to go get it. As a coach, there is nothing more pleasant than that.”

The Flash will return to UWS action on June 24 as they hit the road for a rematch with the Rochester Lancers at Aquinas Institute. The match will kick off at 1:00 ET.
