The Flash and Reign are the two best teams in the NWSL over the last five games
The Western New York Flash will return to Sahlen’s Stadium for the first time in nearly a month when it hosts defending NWSL Shield winner Seattle Reign FC at 7 p.m. ET on Friday night.
About the Matchup
On Friday night, the Flash and Reign will play its second of three matches of the season and the first of a home-and-home series. The two clubs met in the season opener back on April 12 at Memorial Stadium in Seattle, with the Reign coming away with a 5-1 win. Midfielder Jordan Angeli scored the Flash’s lone goal after entering as a second-half substitute.
Seattle owns the all-time series with a 1-4-2 record, with the Flash’s one victory over the Reign coming on August 7, 2013 – a 1-0 win at Sahlen’s Stadium.
The Flash and Reign have combined for the most points in the league over the last five games, as WNY has totaled 10 points and Seattle has 11, the most out of any NWSL team over the span.

Flash Last Game
The Flash enter Friday’s game on the heels of its first shutout victory of the year after defeating the Boston Breakers 2-0 at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium on Sunday evening.
Western New York was led by first-half goals from Lynn Williams and Elizabeth Eddy, who both have two scores on the year. Williams, a rookie out of Pepperdine University, also picked up the assist on Eddy’s goal.
In the 19th minute, Williams made the score 1-0 by capitalizing on a bobbled save from Boston’s keeper. Eddy, also a rookie, doubled WNY’s lead just before halftime with a breakaway goal in the 43rd minute.
Chantel Jones tied a career-high with seven saves in the match, helping lead the Flash backline to its first clean sheet of 2015.
The Flash have now earned points in four of its last five games. Sunday’s win was also the Flash’s first victory on the road this season.
Seattle Last Game
Beverly Yanez and Kim Little scored less than two minutes apart as the Reign went on to beat FC Kansas City 2-1 in a rematch of the 2014 NWSL Championship game.
The win continued a home unbeaten streak for the Reign, who have not dropped a match at Memorial Stadium since the beginning of the 2014 campaign. The Reign also enter Friday’s match riding a six-game unbeaten streak, going 4-0-2 since May 2.
In celebration of Hometown Heroes Night, the Flash are offering $5 off tickets for current or former military members and first responders. In addition, the Flash will be kicking off the Fourth of July weekend with a post-game fireworks show. Sahlen’s hot dogs will also be available for just $1 with a voucher and while supplies last. Vouchers can be picked up in the concourse under the scoreboard.

$4 tickets will be available through kickoff, thanks to six unbeaten games by the U.S. Women’s National Team during its 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup run. For each win or draw by the USA, the Flash has dropped GA ticket prices by $1 and are now being offered at 60% through kickoff.
The Flash will travel to Seattle on Saturday, July 11 to close the regular-season series with the Reign. The game will kickoff at 10 p.m. ET at Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium.
