WILLIAMS SHINES IN USWNT FRIENDLIES
All Three Flash Players Saw Playing Time vs. Switzerland
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (October 24, 2016) --- The United States Women’s National Team wrapped up their second of two friendlies against Switzerland's National Team on Sunday, and Western New York Flash forward Lynn Williams kept her brilliant month of October going.
Coming off of an NWSL Championship win, a Golden Boot, and an MVP title, the 23-year old forward registered her first cap in Utah and then scored in her first 49 seconds against Switzerland after coming on at the half, marking the quickest goal in a player’s debut with the USWNT. Williams then played the entire 90 minutes in the second friendly with Switzerland in Minnesota. In the 63’, Williams played a perfect cross over to the foot of Crystal Dunn, who put the ball away.
Flash defender Abby Dahlkemper also earned her first cap in Utah, replacing Allie Long in the 72’. The 23-year old defender also played against Switzerland in Minnesota, replacing Becky Sauerbrunn in the 67’.
Sam Mewis continued to impress at the international level during the friendlies against Switzerland. In Utah, the Flash midfielder came on for Andi Sullivan in the 75’ and scored on her first touch to put the Americans ahead 4-0. The goal marked Mewis’ third goal with the USWNT. Mewis also came on at the half for Morgan Brian in the American’s 5-1 win on Sunday.

The United States Women’s National Team will finish their 2016 schedule with a pair of friendlies vs. Romania in California on Thursday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 13.
